Q: How is OpenStack adoption working for the machine learning cloud? Can this still achieve the same performance as the private cloud?
A: If we look at machine learning systems, we will see that it’s been very quickly adopted by enterprises, governments, research facilities. It’s a hot topic because it enables them to tap on the data that they already have, tap on the intelligence that they have built over the years and, have that amalgamated into a machine learning system to extract intelligence out of the data and then use the data to drive their decision making.
So, when Sardina comes in the picture to work with an academic German site, where they’re using FishOS to operate an OpenStack Kubernetes systems to drive machine learning, the customer also then integrates with the range of GPUs to gain from that acceleration of GPUs use within their private cloud. And that’s worked very well. Customers don’t like downtime. Service consumers certainly don’t like downtime. Here the health management system in FishOS enables them to operate the system in a flexible and efficient manner to be able to deliver high uptime. This is crucial for the operator to gain the user’s trust.
