FishOS — Supported and Compatible Software and Hardware Matrix

Welcome to the compatibility hub for FishOS

Here you’ll find an up-to-date matrix of software, workloads, and hardware platforms that are officially supported or verified as compatible.

This list is based on extensive validation testing, vendor certifications, and upstream OpenStack support to ensure reliable performance and seamless integration for your infrastructure.

FishOS Workload Compatibility

FishOS, powered by OpenStack, is a natural choice for telecom operators and enterprises needing scalable, resilient, standards-based cloud infrastructure.

Its feature support matrix outlines which operations are mandatory or optional per hypervisor, ensuring workloads run reliably. Examples include block volume attachment, live migration, and network interface operations, which may vary by setup.

Wide Workload Compatibility

Supports telecom VNFs/CNFs, enterprise applications, databases, AI/ML pipelines, big data analytics, HPC workloads, and edge computing.

Multi-Hypervisor Flexibility

Works with KVM, VMware, Hyper-V, and other hypervisors, allowing smooth integration with existing and legacy systems.

Interoperable and Standards-Based

Ensures consistent performance across FishOS-compliant platforms, enabling hybrid and multi-cloud strategies without vendor lock-in.

FishOS for Telco BSS and OSS Workloads

FishOS delivers a telco-ready cloud infrastructure stack (i.e. compute, networking, storage, orchestration) that satisfies the technical and architectural requirements defined by the O-RAN Alliance for O-Cloud deployments.

This includes:

Hosting containerized and virtualized RAN functions (vDU, vCU, etc.)

Enabling hardware acceleration, real-time performance, and network slicing

Supporting RAN deployment models — central, distributed, edge

Complying with O-RAN specs like latency, performance isolation, and interfaces (e.g., A1, E2)
