Client Spotlight: How Incarta Is Advancing Safer Birth Practices in Australia

At Sardina Systems, we see technology as more than a tool for process optimization. When guided by purpose, it becomes a driver of real-world change — especially in healthcare. We’re proud to support clients who merge technical innovation with clinical expertise to create meaningful advancements in patient care.

One such initiative is Incarta’s recent involvement in groundbreaking clinical research across Australia. For more than four years, our company has partnered with Incarta, an Australian pioneer harnessing AI and predictive analytics to support health professionals in care delivery and clinical researchers in developing new innovative care models.

Incarta’s Role: Bridging Clinical and Technical Collaboration

Incarta is currently supporting the National IV Fluid Audit During Induction of Labour (IOL) — a landmark study addressing vital gaps in IV fluid management to enhance patient care.  While IV fluids are a common part of intrapartum care, there remains a lack of formal guidelines regarding their timing, volume, and indications. With support from Incarta, the project aims to capture a national snapshot of current practices and the clinical reasoning behind them.

Bailey Cohen, Incarta’s Manager of Obstetric Services, plays a key role in coordinating hospital participation across Australia. By engaging obstetricians, anaesthetists, and midwives, Incarta is helping ensure broad representation from clinics. This collaborative approach reflects Incarta’s commitment to advancing maternal care through partnership, education, and strategic clinical support.

This study marks the beginning of a deeper understanding of maternal healthcare and holds the potential to influence not only national policy but also global standards.

By uncovering how IV fluids are currently administered during labour inductions, the findings will guide the development of standardized protocols and training frameworks. The result: safer, more consistent care for mothers everywhere.
