OpenStack Officially Released Yoga, The 25th Version Of Its Software

2022 is in full swing, and OpenStack has already launched the new generation of the world’s most widely deployed open-source cloud infrastructure software. The latest OpenStack version, created following the current market needs, harmonizes with hardware and cloud-native tools to provide stable and reliable core well-being.

Over just 25 weeks, nearly 680 contributors from more than 125 organizations and 44 countries authorized and merged almost 13,500 changes into the Yoga release. Yoga highlights include support for advanced hardware features such as SmartNIC DPUs, improved integration with cloud-native software such as Kubernetes and Prometheus, and technical debt reduction to maintain a stable and reliable OpenStack core.

Since 2010 OpenStack has become one of the most active open-source projects globally, supported by a vibrant and engaged global community. Even after 25 releases in 12 years, the OpenStack community is still working on constant technology improvement by adding new features, bug fixing, and maintenance updates. OpenStack now manages over 25 million CPU cores in production. Today nine out of the top 10 telcos run their cloud systems OpenStack. Bloomberg, Walmart, Workday, and TechCrunch parent Yahoo are among the largest enterprise OpenStack users.
